The factory of VNM engineers is in Faridabad in the industrial area outside Delhi. The project creates a dramatic facade with a strong modem design language adding a bright touch to the otherwise dull landscape. The factory’s intention is manufacturing rubber parts of vehicles and rubber accessories. The main aim was to create a factory with special equipment spaces and special technical spaces for the production floor. As a result, the basic function spaces are controlled in the design itself. As a typical factory design project, it had its own set of challenges to create an aesthetically pleasing facade other than catering to the spatial requirements, balancing out the design and technical element. The facade is of unified and block-like appearance, with large windows. Other than these challenges a few more design inclusions were lighting, facade design, colour scheme and ventilation.
The essence of any factory is the production; therefore, we added a lot of importance towards the production floor of this design. The purpose of this factory is to produce electrical parts and panels for engineering purposes. The factory sits in an impressive area of 20000 sq. ft in Faridabad, on the outskirts of Delhi in the Okhla Industrial Area. The factory was designed to create a work-life balance with contemporary services integrated into the design. The factory unit is also tactfully designed to house heavy machinery and equipment to foster a fast and efficient production of the parts. Other areas to consider in design were the client lounge and observation areas, both of which got seamlessly stitched into the floor layout. The building was also made water and energy efficient to cut down on operations and maintenance cost.
The building comprises of a stellar built structure of glass and concrete with bright industrial grade lighting solutions. The interiors are kept minimalist and practical with a white colour scheme running throughout. It is indeed an efficient factory design at its best.
